Hello and welcome to my blog and first post! My name is Gabriella and I am currently writing you from Florence, Italy! Before I get carried away, I wanted to introduce my site! My goal in creating my blog was to have an online diary where I document my life, style, travels, and designs all in one place!
With graduating in such a difficult time, where the future is so unclear was pretty difficult for me. I'm sure a lot of graduates can relate to the uncertainty of the job market and the almost impossible idea of getting a job right after college. I've also never been the type of person to sit still and wait for an opportunity to arise. (I NEED to be busy in some way) I have always wanted to travel after college and maybe get my Master's, but even that seemed impossible around the time I graduated. On a limb I decided to reach out to my two dream schools, to see if there was a chance they were accepting students in the Spring. Both schools responded and told me I could still apply for the Fall and voilà I got in.. I'm just kidding it was not that easy! I did get into both schools, but it was A LOT of work trying to get everything together. To apply to a design school you need a portfolio of your work, essays, letters of recommendations, resume, and your official transcripts. I was deciding between the New York School of Interior Design and the Florence Institute of Design International. Both offered me so much and were dreams of mine! But I never seem to choose the easy option and decided I couldn't pass up this opportunity to live in Italy.

I've never considered myself to be brave or crazy. I've always been hardworking and for the most part stayed in my comfort zone. Deep down I've always had a urge and feeling that at some point in my life, I would move to a new country. I wanted the experience of being totally submerged in a new culture. I just didn't know it would happen so soon. As hard as it was to quickly pack up my life, leave friends and family, and move to a country on the other side of the world without speaking the language.. I DID IT. Now I can't help but to feel brave and courageous!! (and yes crazy haha) I hope to make the most of this experience and inspire others to do the things they've always wanted to do and not be afraid!

Now I am living in Italy on a student visa for a school year living the adventure of a lifetime. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to live in this beautiful country and study what I love. (Thanks Mom + Dad)
Stay tuned for the journey! Cheering you on!
Much love,
Gabriella
